About the event

Whakarauoratia te ūkaipō invites us to imagine both reform and revolution. It provokes urgent thinking (and action) about what a transformed kāinga future might look like and what conditions, policies and practices, and collective commitments are required to realise that future.

The Gen K symposium is a national, rangatahi-centred event that disseminates and translates some of the key project’s research findings. The symposium will provide a space where knowledge is shared, practical solutions are imagined, and collective action is mobilised. We bring together rangatahi, iwi and community leaders, practitioners, researchers, and policy and decision-makers connected through wider kāinga kaupapa.

The Generation Kāinga symposium will be held at Te Pou theatre, a kaupapa Māori performing arts venue in West Auckland. As an arts space, Te Pou theatre is dedicated to nurturing rangatahi leadership and supporting the creation of Māori-led futures. Hosting the Generation Kāinga symposium at Te Pou recognises the diverse ways knowledge is created, shared, and upheld within our communities.
